SNOW & ICE REMOVAL

Residents are reminded that Township Ordinance prohibits the depositing of snow and ice on Township roadways.  The Township requests your cooperation to insure our roadways are kept clear of snow and ice so that they are safer for everyone.

TRAFFIC SAFETY

The Kingston Township Police Department conducts an aggressive traffic enforcement program.  All streets in the Township are patrolled daily and motorists who violate traffic laws will be cited.  Please be aware of your driving habits.

WINTER PARKING

Parking is restricted by Ordinance on all Township streets as follows:
1.  No parking anytime on any Township street between
     10:00p.m. and 6:00am from November 1st through March 31st.
2.  No parking anytime on any Township street between the
commencement of a snowstorm and continuing for eight
hours following the termination of the storm.
The purpose of this ordinance is to insure that Public Works crews will be able to clear the streets of snow and ice for the motoring  public.  Please remember, If your vehicle is blocking the street, we cannot do our job.  Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.

ALARM ORDINANCE

All residential and commercial properties that intend to install fire burglar alarm systems through private alarm companies are required to first obtain a permit form the Zoning Officer, Permits are $50.00.
The purpose of the permit is to register the alarm with the Township so the Police and Fire Departments know which structures are equipped with these devices.
Residents are urged to learn how to use their systems and to make sure they are working properly.  The Police and Fire Departments respond to many false alarms during a typical year.  Many of these false alarm calls could be avoided if the systems were operating and functioning properly.
Service charges are imposed when false alarms exceed two.  The service charges are in a 12 month period at $50.00 per occurrence for burglar alarms; $75.00 per occurrence for fire alarms.  Please make sure your system is working properly   to avoid the service charges and to avoid overburdening the emergency services.  Questions about the alarm ordinance may be directed to the Zoning Officer or the Chief of Police.

HOUSE NUMBERS

The Township supports the use of house numbers on all residential dwellings.  All properties in the Township have assigned house / street numbers.  Residents are encouraged to make the small investment required for your house numbers to be visible by police, fire and ambulance personnel in the event of and emergency. Residents who are unsure of their house numbers may contact the Zoning Officer at 696-3809.  Think about it, we cannot help you if we cannot find you!

PARTY AND WATCH SERVICE

The Kingston Township Police Department offers a Party and House watch Service.  The Police will check residences daily during the absence of the owner to insure the property has not been entered or vandalized.  The Police will also check homes for unauthorized parties in the absence of parents.  The parents may report their absence to the police department when they are leaving their teenagers home to watch the house.  The police will check to insure the homeowner is not surprised by a party commenced in their absence by their children.  For information on registering for a House Watch or a Party Watch, please call the Police Department at 696-1175.

D.A.R.E. PROGRAM

The Kingston Township Police Department is actively involved in the nationally renowned D.A.R.E. Program.  Kingston Township Police Officers teach the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Program in the Dallas School District and Gate of Heaven School to fifth grade students.  The program mission is to educate as many young people as possible on the dangers of drugs and violence.  Refresher courses are taught to 8th grade students as well.
