The Kingston Township Recreation Commission has announced that the Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, March 27, 2010, at 1:00 p.m..
The Kingston Township Residents’ Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the Center Street Park, across from the Kingston Township Municipal Building, 180 East Center Street, Shavertown, PA.
The children will be divided into three age groups for the event: 0 to 5 years, 6 to 8 years, and 9 to 12 years.
The Kingston Township Recreation Commission Members will supervise the event. The Easter Egg Hunt is sponsored by the Kingston Township Board of Supervisors for resident children of Kingston Township. Proof of Kingston Township residency is required for admission. Rain date for the event will be April 3, 2010. For more information please call the Township Hotline at 696-2063 or the Administrative Office at 696-3809.
The "Totally Baldacious" event scheduled for this Saturday, February 27th, is being postponed due to inclement weather. A future date will be set soon so check back frequently!!!
1. The Dallas Area Municipal Authority is offering a one-time Amnesty Program for customers with delinquent sewer and solid waste accounts.
2. The program commences on January 1, 2010 and will end midnight, on March 31, 2010.
3. The purpose of this program is to encourage sewer and / or solid waste customers with delinquent accounts to make your account current.
4. DAMA will forgive all accrued Penalty and Interest charges IF you bring your account current by March 31, 2010.
5. Payment is accepted by cash, check, or credit card.
6. Customers are encouraged to contact the Dallas Area Municipal Authority at (570) 696-1133 to discuss your amnesty payment.
The Kingston Township Board of Supervisors recently presented the prizes for the 2009 annual Holiday House Decorating Contest.
The winners were First Place – Joseph Kaleta; Second Place – Richard Connors; Third Place- Richard Holthaus, Jr. and Fourth Place Evelyn Horntz.

The Kingston Township Board of Supervisors held their Re-organization Meeting on Monday, January 4, 2010 welcoming two newly elected supervisors to the Townships’ Board. Magistrate Tupper administered the oath of office to Shirley Moyer and Frank Natitus to complete the five (5) member board.
The Kingston Township Board of Supervisors meets the second Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. The Public Work Session is held the Monday before the Regular Meeting at 7:00 p.m. Both meetings are held at the Kingston Township Municipal Building located at 180 East Center Street, Shavertown, PA 18708
The Back Mountain Police Association is proud to announce the Warm Coats for Kids drive. The collection provides warm coats for children who are less fortunate. All residents are asked to donate any children's winter coats that your children or grandchildren have grown out of. Collection boxes can be found at the Kingston Township Administration Building, Shavertown Methodist Church, Thomas' Food Market, The Rock Recreation Center, and N-Mart located on N. Memorial Highway. All donations are greatly appreciated.
The Kingston Township Board of Supervisors would like to remind all residents that it is illegal to deposit any snow or ice on any sidewalk, street, highway, fire hydrant, or adjacent to a loading or unloading zone for public transportation after a snowfall. Please deposit all snow and ice a reasonable distance from any and all roadways.
Chapter 21, Part 4, Paragraph 402A. Depositing of Snow and Ice Restricted. No person, persons, firm or corporation owning or occupying any residential or nonresidential property within the Township of Kingston shall deposit or cause to be deposited any snow or ice on any sidewalk, street, highway, or adjacent to any fire hydrant or adjacent to any public transportation loading/unloading zone; provided, however, that snow and ice may be piled by the Township on streets, highways or right-of-way areas incidental to the cleaning or snow removal there from by the Township.
The Kingston Township Police Department is investigating multiple thefts from vehicles in the Trucksville and Shavertown areas. As with each incident, none of the vehicles were locked and valuable items including but not limited to, electronics and cash, have been taken. We ask that residents lock their vehicles, remove valuable items and report anything suspicious that you may seen in your neighborhood by calling 9-1-1.
Residents are reminded that the Township Winter Parking Ordinance is in effect starting November 1st and running through March 31st. Residents are prohibited from parking vehicles on Township streets between the hours of 10 P.M. and 6 A.M. daily.
The Kingston Township Road Department would like to remind all residents that only small yard waste (small branches and bush clippings) be dumped on the waste pile. ***No garbage, lumber, construction materials, etc*** The yard waste pile and grass clippings pile are meant for KINGSTON TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS ONLY! Proper I.D. may be required. Police presence will be enforcing the area.
The Kingston Township Road Department urges all residents to report any potholes on the Township Roads. If any are noticed, please email the Township so we can respond quickly and keep our roads in the best condition possible.
The Kingston Township Board of Supervisors wishes to remind all residents in the Township that some limited burning is allowed in the Township by permit only. Please keep in mind that the Township has a successful recycling program for regular brush and yard waste.
You may obtain a burning permit by stopping by the Kingston Township Office, 180 East Center St., Shavertown, PA, Monday through Thursday, 8:30 A.M.-4:30 P.m., Friday 8:30 A.M.-12:00 P.M. A permit must be obtained and approved by the Zoning/Code Enforcement Officer before you start burning.
Burning Permits are issued under strict guidelines.

The Kingston Township Board of Supervisors has announced the addition of a Hot-Line Number for the convenience of the Township residents. The Hot-Line Number will provide Township residents with office hours, tax collector hours and the latest information in the Township. The Township’s Hot-Line Number is 696-2063.

Yard/Garage Sale Signs
The Kingston Township Zoning Officer reminds the residents of the Township that it is illegal to attach garage/yard sale signs to utility/telephone poles, or trees. The signs should be attached to individual stakes. All such signs should be removed no later than two (2) days after the sale. Violators may be fined up to $30. Additional information may be obtained from the Zoning Officer at 696-3809.
Township Street Right-of-Way
Kingston Township residents and property owners are reminded not to place encroachments, such as fences, landscaping timbers, trees, shrubs, or any other items within the Township street right-of-way.
Property owners need to be aware that they do not own up to the edge of the roadway. Street right-of-ways vary from thirty-three feet to fifty feet. Residents that are unsure of the width of their street may call the Township Office for further information.
Residents are also reminded that this area is not their property and that the Township has the authority to order removal or to remove, the encroachments from the street or road right-of-way.
The Township is asking for cooperation from all residents in respecting the public right-of-way. Residents with questions may call the Township Manager or Zoning Officer at 696-3809.
